First of all I want to say a sincere THANK YOU once again for those that came out to see us at our Double Door show. We had people who made the trek from 6 different states! That was definitely a highlight for all of us and we can’t thank you enough for your continued support.

That said, the last couple months have been a roller coaster ride for myself and Black Bridge. The momentum from the Double Door show continued when we were offered some studio time from our friend Graeme Williams at Dr Caw Studios. Unfortunately, that high quickly wore off when days later our bassist Bob Bonea (the person who single-handedly built this band for me) informed us that he had to hang it up for family reasons. In true Bob fashion he drove the 40 miles from his house to our practice space to tell us all in person. All class til the end and he will be sorely missed.

So with studio time and no bassist, what’s a band to do? We started auditions for a new bassist but with the studio window closing quickly we needed a stopgap. We were lucky enough to have Klem Hayes from Van Ghost sit in with us and lay down the bass lines for the two songs we recorded (Picking up the Pieces and The One). We’re still putting the finishing touches on the double-sided single so look for that to drop sometime this summer.

Meanwhile while we were auditioning bassists we got offered another great gig…this time at Cubby Bear in Wrigleyville however we still had no bassist! Confident we’d find somebody fast we took the gig and not too long after, Chicago veteran David Tyler became the newest member of Black Bridge. David has played, and continues to play, in many projects including The Electric Gypsy Band and Fresh Hot Syrup and he’s ready to add a new flavor to Black Bridge with his unique style.

So with that said, if you’re in town for Memorial Day Weekend, please come join us in welcoming David to the band on Saturday May 25th at The Cubby Bear in Wrigleyville. We’ll be joined on the bill by our good friends Shantytown (Dan and Johnny from Lophophora), Hard Kiss, and Audio Bakery. Show starts at 9PM and we go on first so get there early to make sure you don’t miss any of the fun. Tickets are $10 at the door or $6 in advance (either through Cubby Bear’s website). Better yet, reply to this email and I can get you tickets directly for less.

Hope to see you soon!
